Every room has help call, with fully trained professional care staff on hand 24 hours a day.

All our accomodation has been decorated and furnished to make it as homely as possible. We are more than happy for residents to bring furniture, pictures, knick knacks and photographs etc - anything to make them as comfortable as possible.

The light and spacious entrance hall is a popular meeting place to read or chat. There is a magnificent lounge with colour TV, and an elegant dining room with piano and open fireplace, overlooking the terrace and gardens. There is a small library, writing facilities and a licensed bar with TV/video. You can be as private or sociable as you wish - there is plenty of room to find a quiet place when you may not be in the mood for company. The choice is always yours.

SERVICES

Pencombe Hall is not a nursing home, and we cannot therefore provide nursing care. However, we do offer a standard of care and attention that is second to none, and all our staff have been carefully chosen for their patience, kindness and understanding and are on call 24 hours a day. There are two waking night staff, so a cup of tea and a chat at 3.00am is not a problem!

We are able to call on the services of the excellent local primary health care team which means s that a G.P, dentist, or optician is always available.

Regular visits are also made by a hairdresser and chiropodist whose charges are most reasonable.

We keep a small supply of toiletries, sweets, stationary and stamps etc. on the premises and are happy to collect other small items for residents on request.

We will also collect other small items for residents on request. Personal clothing washing and ironing is undertaken free of charge, as well as any minor repairs. Dry cleaning can be arranged on request.

MEALS

We believe that good food is one of the most important features of a home, we therefore have two excellent cooks who produce a varied, plentiful and wholesome diet to satisfy individual requirements. We will also do our best to provide diabetic, vegetarian and low fat diets on request. Please ask for more information.

ENTERTAINMENT

Nothing is compulsory, and residents can spend time as they wish! However, there are many different activities residents can be involved in, some of which are listed below:

• Minibus outings (shopping, restaurants, places of interest) • Quizzes and Board games • Singalongs
• Weekly Bingo • Chair Exercises • Visiting Library • Musical Entertainment • Monthly Church Meetings

VISITING

Visitors are welcome at any reasonable time. There are no visiting restrictions, but please check before visiting early in the morning or late at night. There are also very busy times of the day for the staff and this does need to be considered. We are happy to supply all visitors with light refreshment, free of charge, and snacks can be prepared in advance for those travelling from further afield if required.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Our aim is to provide warm, comfortable and carefree accomodation for older people wo no longer feel able, or have the desire, to fend for themselves. We will always respect the privacy of the individual and their right to make their own decisions, with responsible help and advice being available should it be needed.

We are registered and inspected by the National Care Standards Commission to ensure that the Hall meets the very latest registration, health, safety and fire regulations.
